Jesus Christ Has Come!

Roughly 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ came to earth. His arrival was an amazing event! What makes Jesus' arrival so amazing is that Jesus isn't any ordinary person. Jesus Christ is God Himself. He is the one and only God of the universe; the all-powerful Creator. Yet, He chose to come to earth and become human for your sake and mine. We all benefit because God chose to take on human flesh. Isn't that great?

You see, God had to become human. We, as imperfect people, had a problem we could never solve. We are guilty of committing endless crimes against God. God is our creator; God is our owner; God is our authority. He is perfect and pure and powerful, yet we continue to commit crimes against Him. God loves us so much, but according to His righteous and pure nature, He cannot allow our crimes to go unpunished. They've brought suffering on everything in His Creation. God loves His Creation too much to allow it to be hurt without consequences. The Bible calls our crimes sins, and by ourselves, we have no hope of ever being acquitted of them. We are all guilty, and we are condemned to serve the eternal sentence of our sins: separation from God. This is why Christ had to come.

crossChrist took our place and provided the perfect sacrifice to pay for all the sins of humanity. Only God, in His infiniteness, could make a payment that offers the cure for sin to the whole world. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He paid the penalty of your sin so that He could offer you forgiveness and make you innocent in the sight of God. Even though we don't deserve it, God will count us perfectly innocent because of Jesus Christ!

But it would've been incomplete if Jesus had remained dead. As God, He is the source of all life. He has ultimate authority over life and death, and He has the power to give life. He proved this by rising back to life; not in some sentimental storybook way that makes us feel good. He actually and factually rose from the dead and came back to life. His very body, which was beaten, bloodied, and crucified, was brought back to life. Jesus Christ lives today!

This means that by His death, the debt of our sin was paid, and by His resurrection, we are guaranteed eternal life. Since Christ rose from the dead, we are promised eternal life. We are promised that after we die, even though our body will remain on earth to decompose, our spirit will go to Heaven to be with God in paradise. We will truly be in the presence of God. But that isn't all because Jesus Christ is coming again! At that time God, Who had the power to raise Christ from the dead, will raise us back to life in perfect eternal bodies! This is not a pie-in-the-sky dream in which we float on clouds playing harps. We are promised real, physical, and eternal life in which we will live on God's perfectly restored earth without pain, sickness, or death ever again!

empty tombThat is the hope that is promised through Jesus Christ. Isn't that good news? I hope you will take this promise because it is offered to you right now. The only thing you need to do is trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. He is worthy of being trusted because He already rose from the dead. If He can do that, He can save you from your sins and give you eternal life with Him. The choice is yours. Trust in Jesus Christ today!
